Math Courses

K-6 Mathematics

The sequence of mathematics’ level courses provides a rigorous and complete mathematics curriculum at the Elementary School level with a strong emphasis in mathematical foundations, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students progress in areas of simple arithmetic, fractions, decimals, sets, measurement, graphs, functions, geometry and logic. To this end the courses are subdivided into specific areas or strands:

  • 1. Number and Operations
  • 2. Measurement and Data
  • 3. Geometry
  • 4. Equations, Graphs and Variables
  • 5. Sets and Probability

The program begins at the kindergarten level and progresses through to the end of elementary school. Technology via the digitalised lectures and learning platform is an essential component. Students will be able to confidently engage in increasingly complex and sophisticated tasks as they progress through the course. They will be able to draw on knowledge from a wide variety of mathematical topics, sometimes approaching the same or similar problems from different perspectives or by representing the mathematics in different ways so to be able to make connections with seemingly unrelated concepts.

Learn through Lectures

We learn about new topics through the lectures and then practice with exercises.

A sample lecture from the Level 1 (Elementary Gr.1) course.

This lecture teaches how to find the area of shapes and make comparisons of size.

A sample lecture from the Level 1 (Elementary Gr.1) course.

This lecture introduces column addition which we use when adding 2-digit numbers.

Worked Examples, Exercise Sets, and Quizzes ♪

After the lectures, the student will solve various questions. The math courses contain an abundance number of questions. Students learn how to problem solve and to think critically; to develop skills to analyze, and make connections.

A sample question from the Level 2 (Elementary Gr.2) course.

This question uses sets where you are asked to combine the elements of two sets to form a new set.

A sample question from the Level 4 (Elementary Gr.4) course.

This question is about finding the coordinates of a given point, which is necessary in coordinate geometry.

A sample question from the Level 6 (Elementary Gr.6) course.

In this problem, information is given that can be rewritten into an equation that solves for x and y. Problems like this help develop algebraic and problem-solving skills.
